We propose a visit to a temporary social architecture intervention of the Critical Concrete, in Francos, Porto.

The mission of the Critical Concrete Association and the Co-Lateral space is to promote a new model of social architecture. Recovering relevant social spaces– social housing, cultural and public spaces – through educational programmes.
Critical Concrete was founded in 2015 with the purpose of fostering e new model of rehabilitation. Through a Summer School, focused on the sustainable architecture and the art in context, we work in the recovery of relevant social spaces - social housing, cultural and public spaces.
We promote the sharing of skills and knowledge between experienced professionals, young people and the local communities, the recycling of materials and the ecological and sustainable constructions.
In 2016, in partnership with Bonfim parish council, we carried out the first edition of Porto Summer School. In this project, students as well as young professionals explored the concept of participative projects in interdisciplinary teams, designed and built their own projects aiming at the development of the local community.
