Associate Professor with Aggregation at the University of Aveiro and Senior Researcher at the Telecommunications Institute, responsible for the research group "Network Architectures and Protocols". Susana graduated in Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Aveiro in 1997, obtained her PhD in Electrotechnical Engineering from the University of Aveiro in 2003 and conducted her Aggregation tests in May 2015. She was at Rice University, USA, in 2000 and 2001, was a lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Porto between 2002 and 2004, and was a guest lecturer at Carnegie Mellon University, USA, in 2008/2009 (which was extended with a sabbatical leave and Faculty Exchange In 2010/2011).
At the research level, Susana has worked on several national and international projects, in which she has developed several communications networking solutions for creating intelligent spaces.
As a result of the research work carried out in March 2012, Susana co-founded a network company, Veniam (www.veniam.com), a spin-off of the Universities of Aveiro, Porto and the Telecommunications Institute, which developed an inter-vehicle communication network. Veniam now has offices in Silicon Valley, Singapore and Portugal.
Susana was the winner of the competition of the European Women Innovators 2016.
