Captain of Douro Port

Born in Lisbon, he joined the Naval Academy in 1984 and graduated in Military Naval Sciences in 1989.
He majored in Electrical Engineering in 1990.
He embarked on corvette, frigate, and squadron ships.
Between 1994 and 1998 he was a trainer at the School of Electrotechnology. Between 2000 and 2003, he served in the Naval Shipyard of the Arsenal of Alfeite being responsible for the Radar and Electronic Warfare Technology Area.
Between 2003 and 2006 he was Captain of the Port of Vila Real de Santo António and of Tavira and Local Commander of the Maritime Police, being also representative of the Navy in the Portuguese delegation of the International Commission of Limits between Portugal and Spain.
He was a liaison officer for the Navy and the National Maritime Authority at the MAOC-N (Maritime Analysis and Operations Center - Narcotics) and representative of the Maritime Authority at the National Center for Maritime Coordination (CNCM), of which he was the coordinator since its creation and during its first 15 months.
Between 2010 and 2012 he was 2nd commander of the School of Naval Technologies where he would return, in 2015, to take over the Command of the one that is the largest Military Unit of the Navy.
Between January of 2013 and October of 2015 he worked in the area of personnel management of the Navy and in January of 2017 assumed the current positions of Commander of the Maritime Zone of the North, Head of the Maritime Department of the North, Captain of the Port of the Douro and Leixões, Regional Commander of the Northern Maritime Police and Local Commander of the Maritime Police of the Douro and Leixões. He attended several career courses, equipment maintenance and technical training and human resources management. He also attended training abroad in security and interagency field, namely in Germany, the "Program in Advanced Security Studies" and the "Program in Terrorism Security Studies", and in the United States, "Inter-agency Coordination and Combating Terrorism "and the “Crisis Management Course” of U.S. Coast Guard.
