Use data and generate value to the city - Hackacity is back!
The third edition of the Hackacity - the programming marathon dedicated to the use of big data - takes place on the 2nd and 3rd of June, in Porto and in several cities around the world.
The city of Porto challenges the community for a night of non-stop programming. The challenge is addressed not only to programmers, but also to data scientists, mathematicians and all of those who feel capable of working during 24 hours to develop using data and create applications in order to create impact on the city.
This is already the third edition of the initiative which last year took place simultaneously in cities such as Olinda, Santander and Amersfoort, providing a unique opportunity to explore joint solutions worldwide. The success of the previous editions has led other cities to join the movement this year. Manchester, Olinda/Recife e Cuiaba? are some of the cities that saw in this hackathon an opportunity to evolve the city as a living laboratory, inviting citizens to intervene directly and actively.
With updated data resources in areas such as mobility, tourism, environment and security, participants should analyze big data and propose strategies to enhance it. This can be achieved by creating new approaches to improve the quality and visualization of data or by presenting solutions, for example, to support health care, traffic management and parking or/and to support tourism.
The prizes of this edition are gadgets - from drones to tablets and smartwatches and all the community is invited. Follow all the news in the Hackacity website: https://hackacity.eu/porto/
