In the Laboratory of Hydraulics we study the protection of the coastline and the great maritime and fluvial constructions, with the help of a huge wave tank.
In this laboratory there’s a set of equipment in the Field of Experimental Fluid Mechanics to perform measures in flows, using techniques such as Laser Doppler Anemometry and others. Its activity is developed in close connection with the Hydraulics, Water Resources and Environment Section and in connection with the Hydraulic and Water Resources Institute, allowing the development of the experimental section of several research projects. In the Laboratory of Planning they have been studying, for example, the transformation of the city before and after the introduction of the Metro do Porto or the way the Campanhã Valley can be developed.
